7-Eleven Inc operates and franchises convenience stores, selling everyday staples, food and services to millions of customers a day. The company traces its origins to Tote'm Stores, founded in Dallas, Texas in 1927 and renamed 7-Eleven in 1946 to reflect its then-hours of 7am to 11pm, seven days a week. In 1963 a store in Austin, Texas became the first to stay open around the clock. The company is headquartered in Irving, Texas.
Its scale is considerable: more than 70,000 stores across 18 countries and regions. Alongside the flagship 7-Eleven chain, the portfolio includes Speedway, Stripes and the food brands Laredo Taco Company and Raise the Roost Chicken & Biscuits. Supporting the store estate are 7NOW, a delivery service; 7Rewards, a customer loyalty programme; and 7-Eleven Fleet, a fuel and services offer for commercial fleet customers.
Operationally, the work spans convenience retailing, quick-service food, fuel retail, delivery and logistics, and retail loyalty and digital services. The company describes its culture in terms of servant leadership, customer focus and a commitment to innovation and accessibility, a legacy it traces to its founder, 'Uncle Johnny' Jefferson Green.
