Augsburg University, founded in 1869 as the first seminary established by Norwegian Lutherans in America, has been based in Minneapolis since 1872. The institution serves nearly 3,500 students across more than 50 undergraduate majors and 13 graduate degree programmes in liberal arts and professional studies.
The university maintains a 14:1 student-to-faculty ratio and emphasises experiential learning, with nearly all students participating in hands-on educational opportunities before graduation. These include internships, research projects, and service-learning initiatives integrated throughout the curriculum. The Centre for Global Education and Experience facilitates study abroad programmes across Africa, Europe, and Latin America, extending learning beyond the Minneapolis campus.
