Centrus Energy is an American supplier of enriched uranium fuel and related services for the nuclear power industry. The company has more than 50 years of experience supplying enriched uranium to utilities worldwide and operates facilities in Oak Ridge, Tennessee, and Piketon, Ohio, from its headquarters in Bethesda, Maryland.
The company develops and manufactures uranium enrichment technology, including gas centrifuge systems. In late 2023, Centrus became the first U.S.-owned, U.S. technology enrichment plant to begin production of High-Assay Low-Enriched Uranium (HALEU) and the first U.S. facility licensed for HALEU production. This marked the resumption of U.S. HALEU production for the first time since 1954. The company also supplies Low-Enriched Uranium (LEU) to commercial nuclear reactors and utilities globally.
Centrus manufactures uranium enrichment centrifuges at its Oak Ridge facility, which is undergoing expansion. The announced expansion is expected to create nearly 430 new jobs and involve more than $560 million in investment. The company provides nuclear fuel services and advanced manufacturing and engineering capabilities to support commercial nuclear reactors and domestic nuclear fuel infrastructure.
