Community Health of South Florida, Inc. (CHI) is a federally qualified health center operating 13 community health care centers and 35 school-based programs across Miami-Dade and Monroe Counties. Founded in 1971 by Doris Ison, who mobilised volunteer doctors to serve the community, CHI has expanded into one of the nation's leading health centres, recognised by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services as ranking in the top 25% nationwide for improvements in patient health outcomes.
CHI delivers integrated primary and specialty care through a one-stop-shop model designed to be affordable, accessible, and culturally sensitive. Services encompass primary care, paediatrics, obstetrics and gynaecology, dental care, behavioural health, vision care, urgent care, pharmacy, radiology, and laboratory services. The organisation holds Joint Commission accreditation and carries Patient-Centered Medical Home designation from the National Committee for Quality Assurance. CHI was the first federally qualified health center in the nation to receive the Governor's Sterling Award.
