The Colonial Williamsburg Foundation is a private, nonprofit educational institution founded in 1926 and based in Williamsburg, Virginia. It preserves and operates what is described as the world's largest American history museum, presenting and restoring the city as it was when it served as Virginia's colonial capital in the 18th century. The foundation draws over 5 million in-person visitors annually, along with 20 million digital engagements.
At the heart of its work is the Historic Area, a 301-acre site containing 88 original 18th-century structures and 525 reconstructed buildings.
