Eagle Creek Renewable Energy, LLC is a hydroelectric power company founded in 2010 that acquires, rehabilitates, and operates small hydroelectric facilities across the United States. The company acquired North American Hydro in 2012 - an operator with roots going back to 1978 - and has since grown through additional acquisitions to become one of the larger small-hydro operators in the country. In November 2018, Eagle Creek was acquired by Ontario Power Generation, a Canadian utility.
The company currently owns and operates 85 hydroelectric facilities across 18 states, with a combined generating capacity of 690 megawatts. That output is sufficient to power over 260,000 homes and displaces more than 1.9 million metric tons of CO2 emissions annually. Eagle Creek's core operating model centers on identifying non-operating or underperforming hydro plants, purchasing them, and investing in rehabilitation and upgrades to improve both power output and reliability.
