Johnson & Wales University is a private, nonprofit university founded in 1914 by Gertrude I. Johnson and Mary T. Wales. It provides hands-on, career-focused education to more than 8,000 undergraduate and graduate students through two physical campuses, in Providence, Rhode Island, and Charlotte, North Carolina, together with an online division that serves students nationwide.
The university offers over 100 undergraduate, graduate, online, continuing education and accelerated programs across healthcare, business, culinary arts, hospitality and technology. Its portfolio includes newly introduced accelerated three-year bachelor's degrees and a growing online division. Programmes combine academic study with practical skills, relevant work experiences and community service, supported by state-of-the-art labs and an emphasis on small class sizes.
Employment at the university spans both campus and online operations, covering instruction, student services, facilities, laboratories and administration across its two campuses and its online division. The institution describes itself as an experiential education leader, with faculty working directly with students to prepare them for the workforce on graduation.
Johnson & Wales reports more than 110 years of career-focused education and a community of over 136,000 followers on LinkedIn.
