KIPP Capital Region Public Schools operates seven tuition-free public charter schools serving students from kindergarten through 12th grade in Albany and Troy, New York. Founded in 2005 with the opening of KIPP Tech Valley Middle School, the network now enrols more than 2,500 students and is part of KIPP (Knowledge Is Power Program), a national network of 279 K-12 schools across the United States. The organisation marks 20 years of operation in the Capital Region this year.
The schools are oriented towards preparing students for college, careers and adult life, with an emphasis on building both skills and confidence. KIPP Capital Region describes a commitment to joyful, academically excellent schooling and to an environment in which students can develop without limits, on the belief that every child arrives with distinct gifts, talents and drive. The organisation also states a commitment to anti-racism, equity and racial justice, and to helping students and educators alike recognise and build on their strengths.
Work is carried out across the KIPP Capital Region K-12 school network in the Capital Region of New York. School-based and operational roles involve daily coordination with students, families and colleagues in a structured setting that demands sound judgement, clear communication and consistency.
