Madera Community Hospital is a not-for-profit General Acute Care hospital serving California's Central Valley. Founded in 1971, it has operated for more than five decades as a community health resource for the region, providing inpatient and acute care alongside emergency services, medical imaging and diagnostics, and surgical services. The hospital is fully accredited by the American Osteopathic Association's Healthcare Facilities Accreditation Program and is a member of the Hospital Council of Northern and Central California.
Its services extend well beyond the main campus in Madera. Specialty medical care is offered in cardiology, nephrology, pulmonary care, neurology and orthopedics, supported by family medicine and home health care. The organisation also runs a Family Health Services Clinic in Madera, a home health agency, and two rural health care clinics, in Mendota and Chowchilla, which serve communities with limited access to care.
The hospital's recent history is material for anyone considering employment there. Financial difficulties led to its closure on January 3, 2023. It was acquired by American Advanced Management and reopened on March 18, 2025, restoring healthcare access to an underserved rural region. Its stated mission is to improve and maintain the health and wellness of local residents.
