Nemours Children's Health is a not-for-profit integrated pediatric health system founded in 1936, originally established as an orthopedic hospital through the vision of Alfred I. duPont. Today it operates two freestanding children's hospitals and more than 70 care locations across six states, serving over 544,000 children annually with a concentration in the Delaware Valley and Florida. The organisation contributes over $220 million annually to community health needs.
Beyond direct clinical care, Nemours runs more than 300 active research projects and operates KidsHealth.org, an educational resource that reaches more than 137 million people each year. Its scope spans hospital-based specialty care, primary care, prevention, and health education - making it one of the largest integrated pediatric health systems in the United States.
Nemours takes a broad view of what shapes children's health. Staff work outside hospital walls to reach children in the communities where they live, learn, and play, with programmes addressing social determinants including education, food access, housing, family stability, and emotional well-being. This mission-driven, community-facing model distinguishes it from systems focused solely on clinical treatment.
