New York Medical College is a private medical institution founded in 1860, located in Valhalla in Westchester County. It serves as the only academic medical center between New York City and Albany, operating three constituent schools: the School of Medicine, the Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences, and the School of Health Sciences and Practice. The college enrolls more than 1,450 students on campus, supervises over 750 residents and fellows, and employs more than 2,100 faculty members.
The institution maintains 150,000 square feet of dedicated research space and a 21,000 square-foot Clinical Skills and Simulation Center. More than half of NYMC's research funding comes from the National Institutes of Health, with active programmes in cardiovascular research, cancer research, neuroscience, and vaccine development. The college operates a network of over 700 affiliated practice sites across the tri-state area, spanning urban medical centres, suburban community hospitals, and tertiary care facilities.
Beyond traditional medical education and research, NYMC operates BioInc@NYMC, a biotechnology incubator that supports healthtech and medtech startups advancing innovation in the Hudson Valley region. This combination of educational infrastructure, research capacity, and entrepreneurial support positions the college across multiple sectors within health sciences and biomedical innovation.
