Acadia Healthcare, founded in 2005 and headquartered in Franklin, Tennessee, is the largest stand-alone behavioral health company in the United States. It operates 262 treatment facilities across 39 states and Puerto Rico, with roughly 11,850 beds and about 25,500 employees, serving approximately 75,000 patients a day. Its work is concentrated in mental health, addiction and substance use disorder treatment, and healthcare services.
The company provides a full continuum of behavioural healthcare: acute inpatient psychiatric hospitals, residential treatment centres, specialty programmes, detoxification services, medication-assisted opioid treatment clinics, and outpatient options including partial hospitalisation programmes (PHP), intensive outpatient programmes (IOP) and traditional outpatient services. Facilities are accredited by The Joint Commission and CARF.
Acadia states its mission as providing compassionate care that improves lives, inspires hope, and elevates communities, and describes its ethos as "Lead Care With Light®". Priorities include expanding access to care and reducing the stigma associated with mental illness and addiction.
