Banner Health is a nonprofit health system founded in 1999 and headquartered in Arizona, where it is the largest private employer. The organization operates across six states - Arizona, California, Colorado, Nebraska, Nevada, and Wyoming - with a workforce of nearly 60,000 employees.
The system delivers care through 33 hospitals, more than 400 outpatient sites, and three academic medical centers. Its clinical network includes specialized facilities such as Banner MD Anderson Cancer Center, Banner Alzheimer's Institute, and Banner Children's. In addition to patient care, Banner Health administers health insurance plans serving over one million members and supports medical education and research through its Banner – University Medicine division, which trains more than 1,300 residents and fellows annually and runs over 800 active clinical trials.
As a nonprofit, Banner Health reinvests earnings into its communities rather than distributing them to shareholders. The organization reported a $12 billion annual economic impact and committed $1.1 billion to community benefit reinvestment in 2025. Roles span clinical, administrative, research, and operational functions across the health system's multi-state footprint.
