Bernhard

About

For more than 100 years, Bernhard has delivered innovative energy infrastructure solutions that empower customers to promote a sustainable future. With over 2,600 employees across 28 locations, Bernhard is one of the largest energy infrastructure companies in the United States, serving healthcare, higher education, hospitality, and industrial market segments. The company pioneered the Energy-as-a-Service (EaaS) model, with a portfolio surpassing $2 billion in financed projects spanning more than 20 partnerships nationwide and delivering $87 million in guaranteed annual utility savings.

Bernhard’s vertically integrated capabilities include engineering, fabrication, mechanical and electrical construction, operations and maintenance, and asset management. In 2014-2015, five companies with nearly a century of combined experience united under Bernhard to pioneer the EaaS model. By 2021, the company had closed 15 long-term EaaS partnerships, including the largest EaaS concession in U.S. history. A majority equity investment from CVC DIF that year validated the strength of the model. In May 2025, Bernhard rebranded as ENFRA to better reflect its focus on energy and infrastructure while positioning for future growth in sustainable energy solutions.
