The Bois Forte Band of Chippewa is a sovereign, federally recognized Native American Tribe based in Northern Minnesota. It serves its enrolled membership of more than 3,000 people through a wide range of governmental and community programs.
The Tribe's operational scope is broad, covering sectors essential to community well-being and self-governance. These include Health and Human Services, Law Enforcement, Natural Resources and Land Management, Housing, Public Works, and a Judicial system. It also manages Employment and Training Services and a Planning and Community Development department to support its members.
A central mission of the Band is the preservation and perpetuation of Ojibwe culture. This commitment is reflected in its programs and in institutions like its Heritage Center and Cultural Museum. Employment with the Tribe offers roles within this sovereign government structure, serving the community directly in Northern Minnesota.
