Cardinal Glass Industries manufactures advanced glass products for the residential construction industry. The company was founded in 1962 as a small fabricator of sealed insulating glass units in St. Louis Park, Minnesota, and has since grown into a major supplier of glass to window and door manufacturers across North America. It is a management-owned S-Corporation.
Operations are organised around six specialised facility types: Mineral, Float Glass, Tempered Glass, Coated Glass, Insulating Glass and Laminated Glass plants. Product lines include float glass made at Cardinal FG facilities, coated glass, tempered and laminated glass, insulating glass units, and branded products such as LoE³-366 for solar control, Quad LoĒ-452+ and Neat+ self-cleaning glass. Technical work spans float glass manufacturing, low-emissivity coating technology, insulating glass unit fabrication and glass processing.
The company has also pursued emissions-reduction work at its manufacturing sites. It installed what it describes as the world's first carbon capture installation at a float glass facility, a Cardinal FG plant, with a target of up to 95% reduction in process CO2 emissions.
