Jewish Federation of St. Louis, founded in 1901, is the central philanthropic, planning, and community-building organization of the St. Louis Jewish community. It mobilises people and financial resources to grow and enhance Jewish life in St. Louis, in Israel, and worldwide. The organisation has operated for over 125 years and supports more than 85 agencies, programs, and services across the region.
Its work is organised around four strategic investment areas: caring for those in need, which delivers social services locally and globally; promoting Jewish vibrancy through programs that foster Jewish learning, connection, and identity across generations; enhancing safety and addressing antisemitism, through coordination, training, advocacy, and strategic partnerships; and deepening connection with Israel via education, immersive experiences, and people-to-people exchanges. Funding is raised principally through the Annual Campaign, its primary fundraising vehicle, supplemented by Planned Giving supporting long-term philanthropy.
The Federation operates across St. Louis, Missouri, Israel, and the global Jewish community, working in philanthropy and nonprofit activity, social services, Jewish community development, emergency response and disaster relief, education and community engagement, and advocacy and antisemitism prevention. Its stated vision is of a connected, collaborating, safe, and thriving Jewish community, with an emphasis on cross-generational engagement and on caring for the most vulnerable.
