The Juilliard School is a performing arts conservatory based in New York City. Founded in 1905, it provides artistic education for gifted musicians, dancers, and actors drawn from around the world, with the stated aim of enabling them to fulfil their potential as artists, leaders and global citizens. Its teaching is organised around three major disciplines: music, dance, and drama.
Beyond its conservatory programmes, Juilliard operates a Development Office that secures philanthropic support from individuals, foundations, corporations and other partners. This work spans fundraising initiatives, donor engagement programmes, stewardship activities and campaign management, and it underwrites the school's programmes and their expansion. The institution is funded through this philanthropic support rather than by conventional investment stages.
Juilliard describes its workplace culture as built on community, excellence and professionalism. It values a range of backgrounds among its staff, encourages openness and honesty between colleagues, and holds each employee responsible for helping to shape the organisation's culture. Team-building opportunities are provided throughout the year, and the school seeks to connect staff to its artistic mission in meaningful ways.
