Le Moyne College is a private Jesuit liberal arts college in Syracuse, New York, founded in 1946 by the Society of Jesus and named after the Jesuit missionary Simon Le Moyne. It offers undergraduate and graduate education rooted in the Catholic and Jesuit tradition. Of the 27 Jesuit colleges and universities in the United States, it is the youngest, and it was the first Jesuit college to open as a coeducational institution.
The college runs more than 100 majors, minors and accelerated pathways, with a student-to-faculty ratio of 12:1. Instruction emphasises small classes, accessible professors and personal mentorship, and the curriculum places weight on experiential education through internships, service learning and study abroad. All students receive financial aid.
Its stated purpose is the education of the whole person and a search for meaning and value, with an aim of preparing students for leadership and service in their personal and professional lives. Le Moyne says it is committed to fostering a diverse and inclusive community. It has been recognised for academic excellence in rankings published by U.S. News & World Report and The Princeton Review.
