Montgomery County Government administers local public services for Montgomery County, Tennessee, and its county seat, Clarksville. Established in 1796, the same year Tennessee became the 16th U.S. state, the county was created by the division of Tennessee County alongside Robertson County. Its remit spans property assessment and taxation, courts, elections, parks and recreation, public health, animal control, emergency management, solid waste, records management, marriage licences and vehicle registration.
Emergency management is a core function, encompassing 911 dispatch and support for emergency response, alongside public safety programmes and community resource connection programmes that link residents to local services. Court operations and emergency services depend on mission-critical systems, and the county emphasises reliability in the infrastructure supporting them.
The county's Information Technology Department operates networks, servers, data storage, software and other systems used across county offices, covering areas from network administration and server management to mission-critical public safety, emergency response and court operations platforms. County facilities and the wider community are encouraged to adopt sustainable practices.
