The Texas A&M University System is a major public higher education system established in 1948. It provides oversight and leadership for a network of universities, a health science center, state agencies, and campuses across Texas. The system serves approximately 175,000 students, representing more than one in five students enrolled in Texas public universities.
The system operates with an annual budget of $8.1 billion and directs nearly $1.6 billion toward research expenditures each year. It also distributes about $849 million in scholarships and grants annually. Its activities span the higher education, research, and health science sectors.
