Thomas More University is a private Catholic liberal arts university in Crestview Hills, Kentucky, minutes from downtown Cincinnati, Ohio. Founded in 1921 by the Benedictine Sisters as Villa Madonna College, it is the Catholic diocesan university of the Diocese of Covington and takes its name from Thomas More, the English lawyer, philosopher and saint. The institution has operated for more than a century and enrols approximately 2,000 full-time and part-time students from across the country and around the world.
The university delivers undergraduate and graduate programmes through three academic colleges: the College of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences, the Robert W. Plaster College of Business, and the St. Elizabeth College of Natural and Health Sciences. Instruction across all disciplines is grounded in the Catholic Intellectual Tradition, integrating faith and reason in fields spanning liberal arts and social sciences, business, and natural and health sciences.
Thomas More was founded by three religious orders - the Benedictine Sisters, the Congregation of Divine Providence and the Sisters of Notre Dame. While it welcomes students and faculty of all faiths, the campus is guided by what it calls the Characteristics of a Saint: Hospitality, Humility, Service and Stewardship, along with the values of truth, goodness and beauty. The university recognises the dignity of every person and states that it prepares students to think critically, serve compassionately and live lives of purpose in service of the common good.
