The Times Square Alliance is a nonprofit business improvement district founded in 1992 to improve, promote, and maintain Times Square in New York City. The organisation operates 365 days a year, employing around 50 public safety officers and 50 sanitation associates to keep the district clean and secure. It manages what is the largest platform for contemporary art in New York City, alongside events programming and tourism initiatives in the neighbourhood.
As a business improvement district, the Alliance coordinates public-space management, safety, sanitation, and placemaking efforts across Times Square. Its work spans multiple areas including public art, events, and tourism promotion, all focused on one of the world's most heavily trafficked urban districts.
