Amperesand is a power infrastructure company founded in 2023 that builds advanced medium voltage solid state transformers for AI data centres and critical infrastructure. Its flagship product, a medium voltage solid state transformer, is designed to deliver power five times faster in half the space, with 99.999% uptime. An underlying power electronics platform uses silicon carbide (SiC) power modules for medium voltage to low voltage conversion, achieving efficiency above 98.5%.
The company's technology originated in research at the Energy Research Institute at Nanyang Technological University (NTU) in Singapore, backed by more than ten years of research and development. Amperesand was spun out by Xora Innovation and has raised over $100m, with investors including Temasek, Walden Catalyst Ventures and TDK Ventures. First commercial unit deliveries are scheduled for 2026.
Headquartered in Singapore, Amperesand also operates in San Francisco and Reno, Nevada. The company is scaling U.S.-based manufacturing and hiring to meet demand from hyperscalers and industrial partners across the AI data centre and critical infrastructure sectors. Technical work spans power electronics, solid state transformers, medium voltage power conversion and SiC power modules.
