Ferrero International S.A. is one of the world's largest sweet-packaged food companies, producing confectionery and other sweet products under brands including Nutella, Kinder, Ferrero Rocher and Tic Tac. Founded in 1946 in Alba, Italy, by brothers Pietro and Giovanni Ferrero, the company remains family-owned, now under its third generation of family ownership.
The scale of its operations is substantial. Ferrero employs more than 47,000 people and maintains offices and production facilities in over 50 countries, spanning manufacturing, confectionery production, product research and development, food science and flavour innovation. Its supply chain reaches back to the raw materials themselves, with responsible sourcing programmes for hazelnuts and cocoa.
Work at the company is organised around a set of stated commitments: quality, research and innovation; collaboration across borders; and care for people and the planet, including responsible ingredient sourcing and support for the communities in which it operates. Pietro Ferrero, known within the family story as "the scientist" for his experimental approach to flavours, and Giovanni Ferrero, the commercial visionary, left a founding emphasis on combining technical rigour with commercial judgement.
Ferrero is headquartered in Alba, Italy, and operates globally from that base.
