Goucher College is a private liberal arts institution founded in 1885 and based on a 287-acre wooded campus in Towson, Maryland. Originally established as a women's college, it became coeducational in 1986. The college serves approximately 1,500 students across undergraduate and graduate programmes, with an average class size of 16 and a 10-to-1 student-faculty ratio.
The institution offers more than 50 undergraduate academic programmes and master's degrees in education, teaching, historic preservation, and arts administration. A distinctive feature is its requirement that all undergraduates study abroad before graduation, supported by over 100 study abroad programmes across more than 40 countries at no additional tuition cost. This commitment has earned Goucher a ranking of No. 1 in study abroad by The Princeton Review.
Goucher emphasises close faculty mentorship and transformational education. The college is recognised as one of only 40 'Colleges That Change Lives' and is listed as a top innovative institution by U.S. News & World Report. Ninety-six per cent of graduates are employed or enrolled in further study within one year of graduation.
