Scot Forge Company manufactures precision open-die and rolled ring forgings, producing custom metal components for industries in which failure is not an option. Founded in Chicago in 1893 as a small hammer shop, the company has operated for more than 130 years and now runs three plants in Illinois and Wisconsin, encompassing 1.3 million square feet of manufacturing space. It ships over 250 million pounds of forged product a year and employs more than 700 people.
The company's output ranges from open-die forgings weighing up to 300,000 pounds to seamless rolled rings up to 252 inches in diameter, produced through a ring-rolling process. Its components have been used in wheels for NASA's Curiosity Mars Rover, parts for nuclear submarines, hydraulic cylinders for the world's largest mining trucks, and forgings for commercial aircraft. Work spans aerospace, defence, mining, space exploration, aviation, physical infrastructure and heavy equipment.
Scot Forge is 100% employee-owned, and every member of staff holds a personal stake in the quality and reliability of what leaves the floor. The company has been recognised as one of America's safest companies and was named 2025 Forging Company of the Year. Its ownership model is described as underpinning a culture of trust, innovation and continuous improvement.
