South Central Regional Medical Center (SCRMC) is a 285-bed public not-for-profit hospital serving a six-county region in Mississippi since 1952. The health system operates over 2,200 employees and maintains a network of more than 130 physicians and providers across 28 medical specialties, 24 medical clinics, and 3 primary care locations.
SCRMC provides comprehensive acute care alongside specialty services including Level 3 trauma, critical care with 21 ICU beds, and maternity care certified as Baby-Friendly by Baby-Friendly USA. The organisation also operates long-term care facilities, home health services, hospice care, and a dedicated ambulance service. It was designated a COVID-19 Center of Excellence by the Mississippi State Department of Health.
The health system is undergoing substantial operational expansion. Internal Medicine and Family Medicine residency programmes are launching in 2025-2026, marking entry into graduate medical education. An Epic electronic health record system is scheduled for implementation in January 2026. SCRMC participates in a regional consortium alongside Covington County Hospital, Magee General Hospital, Simpson County General Hospital, and Smith County Emergency Hospital.
