Father Joe's Villages is the largest homeless services provider in Southern California, founded in 1950. The organisation provides a comprehensive continuum of care designed to address the root causes of homelessness, operating with a guiding philosophy of 'Neighbors Helping Neighbors.' Its services are delivered across the San Diego region.
The organisation's work spans several interconnected areas. Core to its mission is housing, with a nightly capacity for more than 2,500 people through emergency shelters, transitional housing, and permanent affordable housing programmes, including the Turning the Key development. Over the past decade, Father Joe's Villages has helped more than 12,000 people achieve permanent housing.
Beyond housing, Father Joe's Villages provides a suite of evidence-based support services. These include the Village Health Center, therapeutic childcare, employment and job training, substance use treatment, and behavioural health services. The integrated model aims to offer stability and pathways to self-sufficiency for individuals and families experiencing homelessness.
