Lake of the Pines Association (LOPA) is a nonprofit mutual-benefit corporation that governs and manages a private gated residential community of approximately 2,000 homes in the Sierra Foothills of Northern California. The association operates a 24-hour public safety service for the gated community, alongside its work as an employer in facilities management, food service and administration. Work teams span public safety, dining, grounds and amenities, and office functions.
Day-to-day operations cover a substantial portfolio of amenities: a 19-hole golf course, a 230-acre private lake with beaches, swimming facilities, parks, tennis courts and dining venues, plus the resident-organised clubs, groups and events that sustain the community calendar. Public safety officers work a round-the-clock operation supporting residents and guests across the community.
Governance rests with an elected board and the association's governing documents, and operations are conducted under California's Davis-Stirling Common Interest Development Act. Membership is characterised by active homeowner participation, member-led governance and hands-on service work alongside that governance. The association is based at Lake of the Pines, California; further information is published at https://lop.org/.
