Phipps is the nation's oldest not-for-profit organization devoted to affordable housing and resident/community-based social services, founded in 1905 by Henry Phipps. The organization operates across the Bronx, Brooklyn, Manhattan, and Queens, serving as New York City's largest provider in its sector.
Through its housing arm, Phipps Houses, the organization provides affordable apartments for working-class families. Over 33,500 residents live in Phipps apartments. Its social service division, Phipps Neighborhoods, was established in 1972 and delivers education and career development programs, along with comprehensive case support for residents and their neighbors. More than 14,000 community members receive services annually.
Phipps combines affordable housing with resident and community programs, working toward building thriving communities across New York City's boroughs. The organization's mission continues the legacy of its founder to create better homes for working-class families.
