Project Hospitality is a nonprofit network serving Staten Island, New York. Founded in 1982 as a small soup kitchen and emergency shelter, it now delivers integrated services addressing hunger, homelessness, illness, and crisis. The organisation serves more than 40,000 residents each year and has operated for over four decades.
Its work spans a broad set of programmes: food pantries, soup kitchens, and mobile food distribution; emergency shelters; supportive and affordable housing; benefits enrolment and tax support; HIV services; mental healthcare and substance-use recovery; youth and family programmes; legal services and immigrant support; and education and workforce development aimed at building pathways to employment and self-sufficiency.
Services are delivered through an integrated circle of support that connects immediate needs with longer-term resources, in a person-centred model that meets people where they are. The organisation describes its mission in terms of dignity, hope, and self-sufficiency, and has scaled steadily from its humble origins into a comprehensive human-services network.
