Metrocare Services is a nonprofit provider of mental health, developmental disability and permanent supported housing services in North Texas. Operating for nearly six decades, the organisation serves more than 55,000 adults and children a year across Dallas County and the wider region. Its work is concentrated on people with serious mental illness, intellectual and developmental disabilities, autism and co-occurring disorders, delivered through programmes built around quality, gender-responsive and trauma-informed care.
The service range is broad. It encompasses behavioural health care for adults, children and teens; substance abuse treatment including medication-assisted treatment; services for people with IDD and autism; early childhood intervention; primary care centres for adults and children; accessible pharmacies; permanent supported housing alongside supportive social services; and community support programmes. Metrocare also runs Metrocare Connect to Care and the Mental Health and Disability Innovation Center at Hillside.
For veterans and their families, Metrocare operates the Steven A. Cohen Military Family Clinic, part of its wider veterans and family services. Separately, the Altshuler Center for Education and Research (ACER) extends the organisation's mental health work beyond Dallas County while providing workforce training to the state of Texas.
